Pascal Gabriel Dozie, the visionary founder of the now-defunct Diamond Bank Plc, has passed away at the age of 85. His death, reported by Business Day, occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, April 8, 2025, a day shy of his 86th birthday. He had been battling an age-related illness in his final days.
Dozie’s legacy is forever intertwined with the rise of Diamond Bank, one of Nigeria’s most pioneering financial institutions, which eventually merged with Access Bank. As the driving force behind the bank’s success, he led as chairman until he handed the reins to his son, Uzoma Dozie.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Chinyere Dozie, five children, and a large extended family. His passing marks the end of an era in Nigeria’s banking history.
