The Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pst. (Mrs) Mercy Nsor, has applauded the State Governor, His Excellency, Apostle Sen. [Prince] Bassey Edet Otu, over the Executive Council’s decision to approve the citation and establishment of an International Market and Modern Motor Park in Ikom Local Government Area.
Hon. Nsor stated that, with the Council’s decision to boost the aesthetics and commercial value of the city, all resources in Ikom LGA and other Local Government Areas within the Central Senatorial District will be harnessed and well utilized for the benefit of the State.
According to her, the move is a clear indication that the State Governor’s developmental agenda is an inclusive work frame propagated for the collective development of the State, and its people.

She assured the state government of total cooperation and support, noting that the youths and people of Ikom are developmental-oriented and will jealousy safeguard personnel and equipment until the project is completed.
The release, which reads in brief, is as stated below; “To the great people of Ikom, plans are underway to establish an International Market and Modern Motor Park to harness the full potential of your unique location and vibrant border economy.”
The above project is in line with the Executive Chairman’s plans to decongest the always overcrowded Ikom-Calabar road by relocating the famous Ikom building materials market to a new site. These vision will help encourage a smooth/free flow of traffic amongst other advantages.
