In a remarkable political development, Bakassi Local Government Area in Cross River State has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Edet Otu for a second term in the upcoming 2027 elections.
This endorsement underscores the growing momentum for both leaders in Nigeria nay Cross River State.
The endorsement was formalized today, 20th May, 2025 in Ekpri Ikang, Bakassi during a gathering attended by key Stakeholders, including Traditional Rulers, Political Leaders, and
Community Representatives.

The Executive Chairman of Bakassi LGA, Hon Effiong Okon, expressed profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for their unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Bakassi people.
He mentioned that the Renewed Hope programme is a key area that has touched positively on social questions particularly the ongoing construction of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and Bridge Project.
The Council Boss commended His Excellency, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu for his efforts to address the long-standing security issues faced by the Local Government, emphasizing that Governor Otu is a “champion of justice”.
“Governor Otu’s administration has been recognized for its infrastructural developments, including the establishment of medical facilities and the revitalization of the State’s airline. Additionally, the Governor has been instrumental in advancing the Bakassi Deep Seaport project, a transformative initiative aimed at boosting the State’s economic prospects”, Hon. Okon added.
The event climaxed with an endorsement motion moved by Sen. Florence Ita Giwa and the said motion was seconded by Hon. Eyo Bassey. After which, a unanimous and resounding declaration was made by all the Bakassi Stakeholders in support of President Tinubu and Governor Otu second term ambition.
The event witnessed avalanche of goodwill messages from some political gladiators of the LG, Titular heads, APC State Executive, inter alia.
The endorsement from Bakassi LGA adds to a series of similar declarations from various political bodies and Constituencies across Cross River State, reflecting a broad-based support for both President Tinubu and Governor Otu as they prepare for the 2027 elections.
As the political landscape in Cross River State continues to evolve, the endorsement from Bakassi LGA signifies unified call for continuity and progress under the leadership of President Tinubu and Governor Otu.
