The political atmosphere in Ikom was charged with enthusiasm on Saturday, June 28, 2025, as the Voice of Central Cross River State officially endorsed the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including party leaders, stakeholders, councillors, government appointees, and business leaders, gathered in their numbers for the endorsement rally. The event began at noon with a procession from the Federal Government College, Ikom, and culminated at the Ikom Local Government Council field, where speeches and inaugurations took center stage.
The rally featured the official inauguration of the Local Government, Ward, and Polling Unit Executives of the Voice of Central. It was marked by vibrant displays of solidarity—flags waving, drums beating, and traditional dances showcasing the cultural richness of the region.

Director-General of the support group, Comrade Victor Bassey, emphasized the need for sustained collaboration among stakeholders to secure a smooth and resounding victory for the APC in 2027. He praised Governor Otu’s leadership and his “People First” agenda, assuring attendees that Central Cross River remains a priority for development under the current administration.
In a symbolic gesture, grassroots mobilizer Mr. Okim Sama unveiled a campaign billboard, reaffirming the Governor’s commitment to the growth and development of the Central Senatorial District.
During the event, the Secretary of Voice of Central, Comrade Jones Ekwom, moved the formal motion for the endorsement of Governor Otu for a second term, which was seconded by the group’s Woman Leader, Esame Ogar.
According to organizers, the endorsement is a reflection of widespread satisfaction with the achievements of the Otu-Odey administration and signals the region’s unified support heading into the 2027 election cycle.
Declaring unwavering support, the group maintained: “There is no vacancy for any other candidate. We stand firmly with the current administration—only one version.”
