The Yakurr political system has emerged from murky waters into a brightening solar system engineered by the Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s led government. Some pundits have held that, “history has brightening accounts of wonderful relationship existing between the Efiks and some Yakurr communities which predates politics”.
Avowed to this claim are the visits of the governor to Ugep twice in a month when the Yakurr community never witnessed such in the immediate past government of the state, the regards he has for the industrious sons and daughters, and the catalogue of powerful appointments to the Yakurr people are validation to this.
The Ayade government was a complete departure and aberrant neglect. Ayade never attended the Yakurr Leboku Festival throughout his tenure. By this, almost killing the festival and anything that promoted unity and genuinely repositioned tourism in the state.

The consequences of these, are seen in the persistent recruits of willing moles and collaborators from within who defraud the unity, peace and progress of the Yakurr people.
This sad experience is an awful remodeling of the Yakurr people on the retrogressive path of development festooned by the inclinations to promote the ‘pulldown syndrome’, intensified by the politics of hate and unwanted rivalry, worsened farther by political violence, youths restiveness in shades of cultism, thuggery, robbery, societal decays, etc.
There has never been a time Yakurr became much politically united than now, beginning from the evolution of civil rule, the countless interruptions of democratic dispensations in Nigeria, to military regimes and now.
Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu’s government created a welcoming ambience, conducive for patriotic Yakurr sons to reverse the appalling order and birth a new discourse.
The complexity of the intellectual structure of the Yakurr nation, weaved by self-propelled monstrous ethnic sentiments and envy have painted an annoying picture with endless analysis debasing our oneness without solution.
The Otu’s government saw the wisdom to identify a selfless political leader in the central who, par adventure, an illustrious son to champion a conversation to herald a change-chain. This champion in the league of three others accounted for the political calmness and progress at work.
His excellency ex-gov Clement David Ebri (CON), a political father of the Yakurr nation which has, since its political journey, being fatherless, with blurry visions, has for litany of reasons, ranging from ethnic sentiments, greed, envy, class distinction and outright disregard for the beauty of the Yakurr history; saw the need to drive unity, peace and progress of the Yakurr people above personal ambitions. He brought his clout and political experience to bear on the opportunity provided by the administration. He begun a careful introspection, a conversation, recruiting like minds to rebuild the Yakurr nation. Today, he remained celebrated for patience and endurance, selflessness over personal ambitions and bridge building over political vendetta. And for the truncated term of his stay in power, the Ugep Urban can boast of his enduring friendship to the cultivation and empowerment of his friends above his immediate community. This precedence is a lens into now and tomorrow in shaping the Yakurr nation.
Chief Barr Okoi OBONO-OBLA was a presidential aide, an anti-corruption czar, astute politician, a social crusader, human rights activist and cultural ambassador. Chief Obla has mounted every available podium to sensitize the people of CRS on many trending issues on public governance, global perspective on diverse issues of continental drift. He has been on the print and screen media debunking spurious claims by ADC and other opposition parties gradually snaking their way into the central senatorial district to fan disharmony and scurry many against the present administration. A boldface critic with penchant for name calling without recourse to whose ox is gored.
Hon Capt. Inah Eno (Ret’d) is the present Commissioner for Aviation. A detribalized gentleman. A free mixer with a generous mind stand tall in the list of Yakurr sons with good heart. Always friendly and open to better counseling. Those who opposed his mien had ventured into manufacturing a decoy to stage a rancour between him and his colleague in the person of Hon Oden Ewa, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations on the purchase and opening ceremony heralding the entrant of a fleet of aircrafts in the state. The more they brandished lies and hate to polarize their friendship, the more they court themselves and bonded the more. He’s like a brother to his colleague than a friend whose friendship with his colleague is conjuring up for us an ambience conducive for anything good to thrive on to the glory of his Boss – Prince Bassey Edet Otu.
Hon Oden Ewa needs no introduction of any kind and across the length and width of the state. His impacts in deepening the vision and mission of the Otu’s administration are loud for all eyes to see. Ewa has awakened a robust enquiry into public accountability of those entrusted and thrusted with public office. A quiet man whose entrance has quietened opposition in the district by scurrying their support base into his through simple heart of giving, listening and accommodation of all. Ewa has demonstrated monstrous capacity to bring opposing politicians adjudged to be on endless divide into one roof. His eyes are always on the ball and the best path to the goalpost not without observance to the rules.
At this point, we must commend Ebri, Obla, Eno and Ewa as the QUADRUPLE STARS of the Yakurr political system with the solar panel to illuminate the needed brightness to leapfrog the Yakurr nation from its wood without aligning to literary devices of the Nigerian Electricity and Regulatory Commission (NERC).
They see in Prince Otu, an enduring legacy of love to birth a paradigm shift that even the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dumb will say it, the lame will walk it, the stoic will believe it and all shall celebrate it.
The Yakurr nation and central CRS are for Prince Bassey Edet Otu no coalition or dialectical grouping and tensions can change our views.
